as a proud daughter of immigrants, i grew up understanding very clearly the sacrifices my parents made for our family to be in this country and carried an unspoken insistence to make it count. i repeatedly told myself the lie that being an artista wasn’t going to cut it.
i curbed my creativity but happily found purpose in making the world a better place through social justice work in various industries including non-profit, public policy and entertainment. with time, i made it to managing programming and exhibitions in the art and design world, but that urge to make something with my own two hands was always quietly present in the background.
studio jeanmichelle is the manifestation of all those ideas, fleeting thoughts, and left brain dreams while using my right brain in corporate america. in the end, my journey has been perfectly imperfect and all of life’s adventures have inspired me to create how i do today.
my hope is that you’ll come across studio jeanmichelle and allow my intentionality in celebrating the perfectly imperfect in modern day artifacts inspire you to see everything and everyone with a fresh perspective. ✨
thank you for joining me on this journey.
